North Fork Buffalo Creek Reservoir (Red River Basin)

North Fork Buffalo Creek Reservoir is located about four miles northwest of Iowa Park in west central Wichita County, Texas.  The dam was built on North Fork Buffalo Creek, a tributary of the Red River, from May 14 to November 10,1964.  Deliberate impoundment began on the date of completion. It is owned and operated by the Wichita County Water Control and Improvement District #3 for water supply to Iowa Park Township and for recreational use.  The reservoir has a capacity of 15,400 acre-feet and a surface area of 1,500 acres at the service spillway, the elevation of which is 1,049 feet above mean sea level.  At its emergency spillway level the reservoir's capacity is 19,000 acre-feet and the surface area is 1,730 acres.
