February 6, 2009
The Texas Water Development Board (Board) is pleased to provide you with the latest updates about the Intended Use Plans (IUPs) we have received, and information regarding the Federal Economic Recovery Funds currently being considered by Congress. Please note the following:
- The Board has received over 500 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plans; and approximately 345 Clean Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plans;
- The Board is currently reviewing these submittals and will be preparing a list of potentially eligible projects;
- The Stimulus Package Bill is still scheduled to be approved by Congress and signed by the President of the United States by mid to late February;
- Once the Bill is enacted, fund priorities will be focused on “shovel ready” projects that will create jobs. The objective of the stimulus package is to get the economy moving and create jobs; and
- It is anticipated specific funds will also be targeted for green infrastructure, water efficiency, and other environmentally innovative projects.
The Board will continue to provide you with updates as we learn more about this important matter. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
