Texas Water Development Board approves a $2,760,000 loan to the Olmito Water Supply Corporation (Cameron County) to finance water system improvements

AUSTIN - (April 18, 2013) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $2,760,000 to the Olmito Water Supply Corporation (Cameron County) consisting of a loan in the amount of $1,040,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund and a $1,720,000 loan from the Rural Water Assistance Fund to finance water system improvements.
The Olmito Water Supply Corporation intends to use the funds to complete a water system improvements project, which includes a new water storage tank and rehabilitation of existing water storage tanks.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
