News Release | Austin - August 16, 2012 The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $7,890,000 as follows:

- Loan in the amount of $2,500,000 to the City of Abilene (Jones and Taylor Counties) from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to finance water system improvements.
- Grant in the amount of $370,000 and a $370,000 loan from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to the City of Glen Rose (Somervell County) to finance wastewater system improvements.
- Loans in the amount of $4,650,000 to the City of Mercedes (Hidalgo County), consisting of a loan in the amount of $3,255,000 and $1,395,000 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state's water resources. TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
