Texas Water Development Board approves a $48,750,000 loan to the City of Laredo to finance wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN - (April 19, 2012) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $48,750,000 to the City of Laredo (Webb County), from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to finance wastewater system improvements.

Additional wastewater treatment capacity is needed within the City of Laredo. Funds will be used to expand the Laredo Southside Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
