News Release | Austin - August 18, 2011 Texas Water Development Board approves financing for water related projects in Texas communities

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $29,080,000 as follows:
- $2,195,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 33 (Harris County) to finance wastewater system improvements;
- $19,630,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the San Antonio Water System, acting on behalf of the City of San Antonio (Bexar County) to finance wastewater system improvements;
- $235,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to the Town of Iola (Grimes County) to finance planning costs;
- $1,735,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to the City of Silverton (Briscoe County) to finance water system improvements;
- $239,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to the City of Tahoka (Lynn County) to finance water system improvements;
- $1,326,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to the Zavala County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 to finance water system improvements;
- $3,720,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the City of Hawkins to finance wastewater system improvements.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning and preparing the State Water Plan for the development of the state's water resources. TWDB administers cost-effective financial programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
