The Irrigation Technology Center (ITC) promotes efficient irrigation and water conservation while maintaining profitable agricultural production and quality urban landscapes. Now part of the Water Conservation and Technology Center housed at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, the program offers training courses, workshops, and presentations aimed at development and adoption of new and innovative technologies to solve emerging water problems and meet future water supply needs.

The Irrigation Training Program was funded through TWDB’s Agricultural Water Conservation Grant program and provides a comprehensive investigation of all aspects of agricultural irrigation including economics, technologies, water quality, and crop-specific guidelines. Two producer manuals were created from the project and include regionally specific strategies and BMPs for North and South Texas irrigators.

Texas A&M AgriLife includes teaching, research, extension education, laboratory, and forestry facilities throughout Texas. Through collaborations between the TAMU system and public and private entities, AgriLife is focused on protecting our environment, feeding our world, growing our economy, improving our health, and enriching our youth.

The Texas Agricultural Irrigation Association (TAIA) brings members from the irrigation industry, research, education, and production agriculture together to work toward water conservation and improved profitability in irrigated agriculture. TAIA also awards an annual scholarship for an agriculture major enrolled in a Texas college or university.

The Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts (TAGD) was formed to further the purpose of groundwater conservation and protection activities. TAGD provides groundwater conservation districts (GCDs) the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop programs for the management, conservation, protection, and development of groundwater in Texas. The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB) is the state agency that administers Texas' soil and water conservation law and coordinates conservation and nonpoint source pollution abatement programs throughout the State. The United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resource Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) works with landowners through conservation planning and assistance to benefit the soil, water, air, plants, and animals for productive lands and healthy ecosystems. Find your local Texas field office.
