Kent Butler Summit: The Future of the Barton Springs Zone of the Edwards Aquifer 5/3/2012 to 5/3/2012

Event Description:
The inaugural Kent Butler Summit on the Future of the Barton Springs Zone of the Edwards Aquifer is an opportunity to share information and a “call to action” to characterize and address current and future challenges in the management of the Barton Springs Zone. Kent Butler has been described as a visionary and “the best friend the Barton Springs Aquifer ever had”. Kent died in a tragic accident while hiking in Yosemite National Park on Friday, May 13, 2011. This summit is dedicated to his memory.

Groundwater professionals are facing formidable challenges presented by factors ranging from increasing global population and multiple demands for water to changing climate and unsustainable use of groundwater supplies. Implementing Public-Private Partnership in Texas: Practical Steps for SB 1048 5/15/2012 to 5/15/2012

Event Description:
This is a follow-up to the very successful meeting in January in Austin, but will be held in the Dallas area to serve a different geographic market as well as cover the use of the new Texas statute SB 1048 in greater specificity. Recent revisions in Texas statutes provide for improved opportunities for the use of Public-Private Partnerships at all levels of government, and a wide range of project types (public buildings, water/wastewater systems, transportation, and energy projects, to name a few). Using PPPs requires some specific skill sets, which this workshop will outline.
