The desalination plant database was initially developed in 2005 by the Bureau of Economic Geology for the Texas Water Development Board under the terms of Contract 2004-483-021. The database was later updated in 2010 by the TWDB staff. The database contains detailed information on 46 public water supply desalination plants currently operating in Texas. Information for the database was gathered primarily through interviews with plant operators and survey forms. Only public water supply plants with a capacity greater than 0.025 MGD are reported in the database.
